Dr. Robert Adam MD FRCSC

Comprehensive Ophthalmology with focus on Oculoplastics and Laser Refractive Surgery 

Dr. Robert Adam attended the University of Western Ontario where he graduated at the top of the Faculty of Science and received his undergraduate degree with distinctionHe obtained his medical degree with honours from the University of Toronto, receiving the Dr. Louis Kagan Memorial Award, presented to the graduating class's top ophthalmology candidate in 2005. Dr. Adam completed a post-doctoral fellowship in ophthalmology at McMaster University where he served as chief resident. While completing his residency he received awards for most outstanding resident and best research project.

He is involved in medical student and resident teaching as a faculty member at both McMaster University and the University of Toronto, where he is an Associate Adjunct Professor and Lecturer. He is an active staff in the Department of Surgery at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto.   

Dr. Adam has been involved in political leadership of Ophthalmology in Ontario representing the Eye Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario as a member of the executive committee for several years.   

Dr. Adam maintains an active research interest with clinical research and case reports often on the go.  He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals including the American Journal of Ophthalmology, British Journal of Ophthalmology and the American Orthoptic Journal. He is also an experienced presenter and lecturer, having given countless presentations at professional conferences. Some of the associations he’s presented for include the Canadian Ophthalmological Society and the Ontario Medical Association.   

Dr. Adam practices Comprehensive General Ophthalmology, with a focus on Oculoplastic as well Refractive surgery.  He has performed thousands of eyelid surgeries including both functional, medical and cosmetic cases and developed this unique skill set through observerships and close collaboration with national and international leaders in this field.  In addition, Dr. Adam has performed over 15 thousand ocular surgeries such as laser corrective surgery (LASIK), cataract surgery and medical laser therapies.   

In addition to English, Dr. Adam also speaks Hebrew. Dr. Adam has spent time volunteering for several a number of iinitiatives, including CNIB's Mobile Eye Care Clinic that carries out vision screening, eye treatments and minor surgeries in remote Ontario communities. He's also been involved in international eye missions in developing countries.
