Dr. Amit Gupta MD
Vitreo-Retinal Surgery
Dr. Amit Gupta is board certified in ophthalmology and fellowship trained in Vitreo-Retinal Surgery. He completed his medical training at Hahnemann University School of Medicine (now part of Drexel University) with many awards. Dr. Gupta then completed his ophthalmology residency with The Eye and Ear Institute at the University of Pittsburgh. His Surgical Retina Fellowship was completed at the Crozer-Chester Hospital in Philadelphia. During his fellowship Dr. Gupta helped develop the MAVE—a Multi-Axis Vision Evaluator.
Dr. Gupta had a private practice in the Poconos, Pennsylvania and was chairman of the Dept. of Ophthalmology at the Pocono Health System and the Eye-Trauma surgeon for St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem. Dr. Gupta was a Principal Investigator in human trials for Lucentis and its use in Wet Macular Degeneration. Prior to starting his career in medicine, Dr. Gupta worked in the Silicone Valley as a computer engineer and a manager for telecommunications research and development. He holds a degree in computer engineering from McMaster University and multiple patents in both engineering and medicine. Since 2017, he has been developing low vision electronic glasses, for which he has received 4 patents.
